The good news:
Please join us for the 46th
Eastern Tandem Rally to be held
on Boston’s North Shore. We’re
using a Sheraton Hotel for all
the meals, dinner party, ice
cream social, and business
meeting (more on that later).
Catered lunch Saturday is at a
state park. These are the roads
we ride regularly that gently
roll through farmland and
bedroom communities. We will
have another Contra Dance
Saturday night after the largely
positive feedback from the dance
in Hanover, NH’s ETR 2 years
ago.
Rides of various lengths right
from the hotel are available on
Saturday and Sunday. Remote
starts for those arriving Friday
will explore the shoreline and
marshland of Boston’s North
Shore. The Four Points by
Sheraton Wakefield Boston will
offer reduced rates for
Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and
Sunday nights when you mention
the Rally.
Our weather should be
comfortable and warm. I hope
it’s dry!
REGISTRATION. We’re trying
something different this year.
The popularity of ETR often
exceeds the capacity of the
hotel ballroom for the Saturday
evening dinner and festivities.
To accommodate the ballroom
limitation of 125 teams at this
years rally, we will offer two
registration windows. Board
members and event sponsors are
guaranteed spots (hint, hint!).
The first window for
online registration will be February
19th from 7pm
until 70% filled. The
second window will be February
21st from 7pm
and remain open until the rally
is full. This second window
hopefully provides more
flexibility to sign up.
ETR information can be found on
the site at: 2019
ETR Information
Regarding the Business Meeting -
Everyone is invited to attend. I
encourage folks to attend,
listen in, and offer any insight
into changes they’d like to see
with the organization. Change in
registration was discussed and
voted on at last year’s ETR
business meeting.
The Board is all Volunteers.
Event organizers are all
volunteers. Let’s keep ETR
going!!
The bad news:
Currently, there are no 2020 ETR
proposals. These rallies only
happen with you, the teams that
enjoy riding tandems with other
folks, step up and offer to
showcase your favorite places to
ride. Gather your friends. Get
some support. We on the ETR
board are available to help and
have written resources
available.
Please contact me by email or at
the rally to discuss your ideas
for next year’s ETR.
Thank you,
Dan and Chanda McKee, 2019 ETR
event organizers
