Deadbeat Team,

We have games tomorrow at 10 and 12 at Sligo. Please let me and Mike know ASAP if you can play because at the moment we don't have enough people. Who doesn't like drinking a tecate with friends on a fall day?

Captains Colin and, to a lesser extent, Mike

Don't make the same mistake I made, kids. What's the point? Best case scenario you go out and play, have a few cheap beers and make a play you probably should have made anyway, and it's immediately forgotten by all of humanity.

Bad scenario is that you suck or fuck it up, and then you're the dude/chick who got beat by the chubby person wearing a leopard print leotard who says "It's coming back!" on every OB pull unironically.

True worst case scenario is you go out there to shake off the rust on a shitty dry field. Everyone's game is a bit off. A somewhat dicey throw goes up, you feel obligated to go get it (if anything to make the game end sooner), and then some short dude jumps for a disc he won't get and blows out your knee.

Then what? You go get your MRI and the guy says "How did you hurt your knee?" and you lie and say "Soccer." And he goes, "Oh good, I thought you were going to say something embarrassing like... frisbee." Then you have to hang your head and admit the shameful shameful truth while the radiologist laughs at your misfortune. (actually happened)

And while aforementioned unathletic try-hards in clique league get to go on living their pathetic but injury free lives, you're stuck wearing a knee brace and getting surgery next month followed by months of grueling rehab.

Oh yeah, I forgot - I can't make it to the game this weekend.

Tom brings up a great point - most of the teams we play have unathletic try-hard clowns that can't control their bodies. On the bright side, we're blessed to live in a country with comprehensive universal healthcare - so turn that frown upside down Pino!

But the worst part about this whole ordeal (minus Tom's knee) is that his insufferable emails about not showing up are now legitimate and anchored in a real tragedy. Thoughts and prayers big guy.

ANYWAYS - we do need a few more players for tomorrow so we don't have to play savage again. If anyone has a friend who plays, bring them along please!

xoxo,
radio
