Proud of the past, wary of the future

Sultan = Proud of the past, wary of the future
"And when the Sultan's population reaches 5,000, "we'll move onto the
playing field with everybody else," Tolson says. Often, commercial
developers consider investing in cities only if they have at least
5,000 residents.
Sultan's population is 4,135. There are 120 homes slated to be built
this summer and about 600 more in the next four or five years,
according to Tolson.
"We're aggressively looking for commercial businesses," he says. "We're
looking for livable-wage jobs for people in the community and to keep
people from commuting."
In the next decade, a legion of newcomers is expected to move to
Sultan. Whether they are commuters or not, it will be a challenge for
the community to remain one where neighbors greet neighbors by name.
HAPPY 100th. BIRTHDAY SULTAN
May you have a fantastic voter turnout, using absentee ballots of
course.
"Incorporated June 28, 1905," I'm sure the founding fathers would
spin in their graves if they knew elected officials were taking live
body counts in order to sell out to developers.
In a state with hundreds of thousands of wide open acres, our County
Council wants to experiment with FCC's in residents backyards.
FCC's "Fully Contained Catastrophes," Catastrophes should be
Communities!
Communities that are packing 5,000 or more new families with them.
The concept is these COMMUNE - ITIES, the third (C) in FCC's, comes
with it's own retail and industrial work force, including services!
This is to prevent the destruction of surrounding Cities or towns
economies. (Right!) Of course the big push would be while America's
sons and daughters are fighting overseas, our County's developer driven
Council's "Hurray for me, and to hell with you" attitude, will leave
our returning forces facing unemployment.
To date, most FCC's have failed, forcing as high as 80% + of it's
"self contained" work force to vie for area jobs and services, on
existing over crowded and aging roads, while putting an extra burden on
area police and emergency services. Towns like Sultan will be taking
the biggest hits in having to provide vital City services into working
double duty.
Being ""Low income housing"" 80% or even less, if your someone who
goes by the media's false feel good reporting? The lions share who are
out of work in our own depressed economy, will force small cities like
Sultan to put on extra police, and services, just to protect their own
people.
Developers, builders, and our County Council, are licking there
chops while counting the dollar signs on FCC's. After all, with
Novembers election only seven months away, and said to be LEVY HEAVY,
and Sultan's citizens safety never really a County priority, should be
getting concerned and requesting absentee ballots NOW.
Guess who will pay for existing road maintenance to handle this
hoards needs for roads? If you said the developers ROTFL, we all can
use a good LOL! This is the MBA and County Councils last stab at job
security! Hopefully after Novembers dethroning on absentee ballots of
course, it won't happen.
Let's forget Sultan in 2105 and worry about Sultan in 2025 for our
children and our Grandchildren's sake! Otherwise THEY too, will be
forced into FCC's, where English could be button number two or even
three on our ATM's and pay phones?
