To the Middle School, who thought he was a "gangster", because he was
different. I say thank you. It made him want to do bigger and better
things with his life.
On the other hand, and up side, I would like to thank Greg Norgard, who
believed in Chris and for one year, taught him the guitar. You
probably know Greg, he is one of the fine residents of your town.
On May 14th, Chris "16 years old" and his band go into a recording
studio in Anaheim, CA to cut their first "demo" CD. There will be four
songs, all of which Chris wrote the lyric's and music to.
The end of May he and his band open a show for a band in LA. "Their
first show".
No, he is not there yet, but believe me, he will be.
Oh, by the way, he don't smoke, drink or do drugs.
Thanks Sultan. Because there was nothing in that town for Chris to do,
his passion became the guitar and music. You see, he wasn't a jock,
so he didn't fit.
Yes, he is still in High School, Junior next year. And doing quite
well. Yep, he still looks the same, blue hair and all, but hey, they
don't judge you for what you look like down here, they judge you for
what is inside you.
Thanks again Sultan. Everything happens for a reason.
For me, it was the kids. They are awesome. I miss them dearly.
Stan
He should also realize that nothing in life that is worth getting
without a price. If he wants to look rough for his image, then he
should darn well expect to reap the repercussions that go with it. If
he is going to be "different" then he better grow some thick skin too.
Greg Norgaard has been one hell of an addition to this community for
years. Between his musical abilities (He should sing you his "my dog
has fleas" song... I remember it from when I was young.) and his drama
coaching, he made some folks better around here. He is a great guy.
Sultan is a great place to live. If Chris didn't have anything to do,
is that Sultans fault? What community programs did you offer to
spearhead? If you accomodated Chris, then fantastic, you did your
part.. did you want us to bend over backwards to make sure everyone was
taken care of?
Since the whole world is here to revolve around you... well, I guess we
should be accepting when someone is too loud, too late into the night,
when our kids are trying to sleep. Blue hair? GO for it.... Have a
great time with pink purple or red hair, but you better be ready,
because if you walk into my business, you won't get hired.
If the kids wants to be a musician, then go for it... The blue hair is
popular in that circle. Congratulations on not doing all those bad
things. It means someone has instilled some values in him. Now someone
has to instill some understanding in him, that is wonderful as the
world is, that nobody owes you anything, including respect. He gets to
go out and earn that himself.
Enjoy your time in the land of fruits and nuts, We will remain
comfortable here. L.A. is a huge place, and can offer much more than
Sultan can, just because of community diversity, and the one thing we
don't have... money.
SO you can thank Chris for being tough and weathering the storms of
life, that we ALL faced at one time, or you can piss and moan and try
to blame the whole world for something that points right back to the
home and parenting. You are either raising a strong young man, that can
cope with what the world throws at him, or you are a failure as a
parent.. You decide, but if something is bad.. don't blame it on anyone
else.
Good luck in LA, and best of luck to Chris.
