4/12 HeraldNet: Lake Stevens plots growth
Ms. Logg
After reading your article, and hearing that Lake Stevens just passed
a Resolution of the Lake Stevens City Council, requesting an area five
times the current City's size, be handed over to the City by the
Snohomish County council, lock, stock and $40+ million annually in
taxes collected.
This is an area where the entire UGA voted 85% No, to 14%
Yes to a full annexation of the City's UGA!
According to the GMA, the City must be a full service provider, not
just police protection.
According to the GMA, RCW's they must show they have the funds to
provide these services, the same services they themselves lease out.
With a budget that's already referred to as being in the red, this is
no more then a cry for help to bail out years of mismanagement, while
being prodded by, and catering to a very select and small group of area
developers, who know they can control City Hall, and manipulate the
media.
With no controls on permits and zoning the poor souls in the County
now, will have no governing body. These new conquered lands if you
will, under developer control can build to their own standards. Could
this be the reason both City Planner and City Administrator left at a
rapid pace? I belief these were caused by both having higher standards
then the taking of peoples land.
The County fears loosing $1.7 million if the Tulalips retain some of
the retail sales taxes? Yet the same County Council that's also
manipulated by development would look the other way at this illegal
actions of the taking of peoples land without a voice or a vote of the
taxpayers AKA families.
Along with the County's loss of $40+ million in annual taxes, the
County will still need to provide current services, to a City without a
City Planner and City Administrator, who left under unusual
circumstances, and leaving only an assistant planner, who has none of
the called for engineering degree's needed for the job.
They did however hire an annexation specialist. The criteria, was a
warm smile, and obviously no working knowledge of the GMA, and UGA,
RCW's if taking your land is condoned? This forces the taxpayers to
appeal keeping their neighborhoods intact. The City is already on
record as stating newly annexed residents would not be allowed a City
vote for two to three years.
But, the City can change your zoning for the developers waiting in
the wings, within two City Council meetings. Not a resident of the
County or City, where do you go to lodge a complaint over the high-rise
apartment building going in your back yard? Then drive into town and
look for this low cost in the City!
With a highly questionable annexation along it's border on Cedar
Road, by City civil servants, and County firemen who banned together to
cause this irregular boundary by requesting 75 foot or so of Cedar
Road. This will not only be job security for these new "neighbors?" And
renters, by causing patrol overlaps with County Sheriff patrols! But
another form of income there poor neighbors won't be suspecting in
traffic violations.
The big and hidden prize won, by going after this two acre small
annexation, and 75 ft. of road will be the forcing in by landlocked of
75 to 100 additional homes that already have better services then many
City residents, but voted in the 90% range, No to annexation in the
late 1990s! Hence the name "Lake Stevens plots growth"
The laws broken on an entire UGA stealth annexation, is no more then
the taking of an area many times larger then the City itself.
The use of City employees involved on smaller area's for job security
through any traffic violations is true taxation without representation.
Under the City's unique codification, most moving violations are double
that of surrounding cities. Already this city of only 6600 is a State
leader in the cost of sewer hookups, why? CONsultants, and just about
every project in the past two years being grossly over with an anemic
budget. Just last week it was for an additional $300,000 over budget on
a Grade Road project.
Had it not been for WADOT stepping in, the City was close to loaning
an SR-92 shopping center developer $2 million for a traffic light and
turn lanes, that he swore "I will never pay a dime for a traffic light"
City taxpayers would've absorbed the cost of his development, so what
else is new?
Ms. Logg, I need to ask how many homeowners have you interviewed in
the UGA?
The good old fashioned, random knock on the door journalism? Or ask
anyone on the GMHB, "Growth Management Hearing Board, how highly
illegal this really is?" This makes eminent domain look tame, compared
to just taking the land. Developers wealth is not in the peoples best
interest, the criteria for eminent domain!
This is just another ploy to funnel back money to a very small group
of developers, using taxpayers dollars in defending a City in dire need
of money.
Also our County Council who uses these very same tax dollars in
defending their right to ignore the GMA, on the developers behalf, for
the very same reason, a dire need of money!
Warm Smile = Much Higher Taxes

Very good question, "Let's look at the video tape" as they say, on a
crucial call that could affect the outcome of a game.
My mistake, the election results taken from our $5 million dollar,
Sequoia Liquid Crystal voting machines left only totals?
Does Sultan have 14,000 registered voters?
The Post Office occasionally finds small amounts of undelivered
absentee ballots, but they are now void.
It very well could've been many "scoundrels" best election, that our
tax dollars could buy?
According to the circa 1860s election laws, still in use today, it's a
shame that we may never have a truly close race again?
After the ballots were hand counted, a neat trick to do with an
electrical impulse, any ties had to be decided by the flip of a coin,
(a coin made of silver had to be used), to find the winner.
How about that, the winner had a memento of the race in the coin. The
election had a vote by vote recount, that's know longer possible.
In today's elections we have what the machine tells us are the totals,
and plenty of X0X0X0X0X0X0's to back those totals!
.
I signed my name, it's above with the vote totals!
