The Perfect Day

Here I sit,on the 1st day of my 54th year,with a story to tell.

Imagine this:

Location Solano Beach (San Diego County California)

Time-7 AM

Air temperature-75 degrees

Water temperature-70-ish

Waves 2-4 foot

Accompanied by my gorgeous wife.

One of the most beautiful days I have ever witnessed.

#1 Alcoholic,#2 drug addict,#3 brother,#4 husband,#5 father,#6 grandfather,#7 friend.

A) As long as I continue working on #'s 3-7, #1 & 2 are just reminders of how the wheels fell of at an early age.

I was on a fast road to the bitter end had I not decided to make a phone call and receive the best gift I could have ever asked for. ( Thank you Lynn).

B) #3 is always in a state of change. If I can be the best 'Me', I can only ask that this number remain in a forward motion.

C) #4 has a lot to do with mutual respect and love, and hopefully an equally yoked partner, that strives on a daily basis to to do what's best for the relationship, therefore the #5 & #6 have a clear supported path to success.( in our 26th year I have her right where I need her, she wouldn't know what to do without me, don't bother talking to her about it , she would just readily agree with all I say ).

D) #5 is a constant journey of,guidance,love and support.No matter the task, we will always work to find the solution to any situation.

E) #6 is nothing short of a privilege for me. She hasn't started talking yet, but when I hear a noise come out of her mouth it always sounds like "Grandpa", so I come a runnin' .

F) I could probably use more work on this area. I will say that I don't have a lot of friends, I have a lot of acquaintances, but the friends I have I like to call 'solids', because they are of such a high quality, they are hard to find and worth every second of work to keep.

Remember: every day is a gift.That for which should not be taken for granted.

I get to choose to participate. The people in our lives are here for a reason. We only get out of this life what we put into it.
