from Will he lynch us again?
by Lhea J. Love

How long will we remain captive
Following the illusions of the masses
Looking at the world through Western glasses
Finding only Europeans attractive
Unshackled, but socilaly passive
Mind manacled, politically inactive
We've been to complaissant underreactive
Towards institutionalized racism and other supremacist's tactics

Who will stand, invoke some action
Make a statement, show some passion
Remove the lynch rope form the masses
Toss the illusion of western glasses
Learn your history outside of classes
Find your natural beauty attractive
Be socially aware, not passive
Be politically conscious and active

All leaders are reborn unto the truth.

In life, there are many would-be leaders who fail to transcend their
daily smallness because of a false belief system. There are many would-
be lions hiding behind mickey mouse ears. There are many would be
eagles walking amongst chickens.

And we remain, as birds without wings, because we are waiting for
someone else to crown us, to promote us, to deliver us from our former
sleves. We are waiting for someone else to give us our wings.

Or, we create unnecessary drama, believing action alone makes us
great. Or, we conduct unnecessary arguements, beliving fighing alone
makes us a hero. Sometimes, we speak in order to hear ourselves think.

In order to take a stand and be a leader we must: first, know
ourselves; second, keep our eyes open and finally, know our support.
The knowledge of ourselves without the knowledge of our situation,
breeds leaders who are impossible to support. The knoweldge of our
world without the knowledge of ourselves, breeds leaders whose fatal
flaws lead them to be victimized. And the knowledge of ourselves and
and our environment without a proper support network breeds poets
without audiences, philosophers without students.

Fortunately we do not have to stand alone to be a leader. All geniuses
have teachers. All leaders have advisors. However, we do have to
believe in the foundation that we stand on. And, when the time arises,
we must take a stand.

"Sometimes there is someone who is selected to be a lion or an eagle
when the rest of us are selected to be sheep and sparrows, and this
someone is not caught up by destiny, but makes destiny for themselves,
as if they have a greater knowledge of what must be done, and an
understanding of the direction in which the world must go."
