In Moscow on January 3, 2015 passed away Elena Chukovskaya, writer and literary critic granddaughter of a famous writer Korney Chukovsky and the daughter of writer Lydia Chukovskaya, who devoted her life to the service of Russian literature. She was 83 years old. Elena graduated from Moscow State University (MSU) and later received her PhD in chemistry. Since the mid 60-ies in parallel with the work of the chemist she engaged in literature. Thanks to her efforts was published "Chukokala" by Korney Chukovsky. Elena, at the risk of her own freedom, supported Alexander Solzhenitsyn, helped with his correspondence, reprinted samizdat materials. Chukovsky house for many years been a haven for the persecuted by the authorities Solzhenitsyn. Elena Chukovskaya was first published in 1974, the most famous publications "Return Solzhenitsyn Soviet citizenship" ("Book Review", August 5, 1988), and the memories of B.L. Pasternak: "Nobel Prize" ("Questions of Literature", 1990, №2), a collection of articles on Solzhenitsyn "The word finds its way" (together with Vladimir Glotser, 1998). She was the author of numerous comments and articles on the work of his grandfather and mother. Thanks to her efforts the following works saw the light: "Dash" and "House of the Poet" by L.K. Chukovskaya, "Diary" by K.I. Chukovsky, correspondence of father and daughter. In 2011 Elena Chukovskaya was awarded the Alexander Solzhenitsyn prize "for selfless work for the preservation and publication of the rich heritage of the Chukovsky family; for bravely help domestic literature in difficult and dangerous moments of its history.
