I am helping a friend, Bill Elam of Hardin Co., TN, adjacent to McNairy, find something about his ancestors.  Bill was born ca 1940, and his father was born in McNairy Co., TN in 1903.  His line as I see it runs as follows:

Bill
Oather L. Elam, b. 1903 d. 1975, buried New Hope Methodist Ch. Cem.
William Elam, b. 1876
John Nelson Elam, b. 1853
Andrew Elam. b. 1805

I see where someone says that Andrew married Polly Laughin in Lawrence Co., AL in 1820 and that Andrew was probably from the Middle Tennessee Area.  Who were his parents?  Is he related to Daniel Elam of 1820 Rutherford Co., TN and earlier of North Carolina?

Can anyone help Me?
