For 300 years there was no more common English man's name employed
throughout the language than "JACK". It (and its twin "John" which is now a
separate name but still used interchangeably, i.e. John Kennedy/Jack
Kennedy) have been incorporated into stories, tales, rhymes, and hundreds of
words in English. Gene Traub helped compiled the following which we have
"adapted" (that's computer language for "stolen with little change and no
remorse"). The word JACK will appear in every answer.
