My mother-in-law and I had just left the grocery store and were heading home. It was warm outside and the car windows were down. On our way, a big bumble bee flew into the car and started buzzing around.

Immediately we both started screaming as we frantically began swatting at the winged intruder, arms flailing every direction. My mother-in-law, who was driving, was in an absolute panic to kill the bee. A couple of times she ran off the edge of the road.  I was holding a pie in my hand, in order to keep it safe.  When I took a swing at the bee, I accidentally smashed the pie into my mother-in-law’s face.

Unbeknownst to us, my in-law’s pastor was driving the car directly behind us.  Seeing the erratic swerving and swinging of arms inside the vehicle, he surreptitiously followed us home to make sure we were all right and not killing each other!

The embarrassing truth is, he could see the battle going on inside the car, but of course he couldn’t see the bee.

We may need to learn the lesson that what we SEE is not always the complete truth, eh?
