Once a Sister of Mercy in an Australian convent chanced upon a sick koala on
the cloister grounds. She took the ill creature to the infirmary and asked
the nun in charge what could be done to restore it to health. The nun at the
infirmary explained to her that she had considerable experience with sick
koalas. There was a treatment which invariably nursed them back to health.

It was a relatively simple regimen. The koala was merely fed with an
infusion of gum leaves, its normal food, until it returned to health. So the
Sister of Mercy who had found the koala gathered gum leaves, and mixed them
with boiling water in a teapot. After they had steeped for a period of time,
she began to pour the mixture through a tea strainer into a bowl for the
animal. She was interrupted by a shriek from the other Sister of Mercy: "No!
No! You're doing it all wrong!"

"What am I doing wrong?" The first Sister inquired.

"You mustn't do that," said the second nun. "The koala tea of Mercy is not
strained."
