Herman Voss was a Christian song writer and organist. His work for “Singspiration Music” focused on children and teens. My wife’s mother, Norinne Bohren, found his children’s song about work and taught it to her children. She convinced them that Labor Day was Fall Clean-up Day before starting school on Tuesday, to work getting the yard ready for winter, clean the garage and do a whole list of chores. After that, they would have a picnic and play games. She called it the “Work is Fun Club”.
My wife is humming that song right now and I feel she’s going to give me MY list of chores to do soon. LABOR day takes on a completely different meaning for those in the “Work Is Fun Club”.
