Growing up with some Jewish roots, Hanukkah meant coin-shaped chocolate candy.
These coins were foil wrapped and flavored, but I knew they were mint to be eaten.
One December I ate my coins and then I “borrowed” from my sister (without her knowing) and ate all those, too.
That was nearly 70 years ago, but pangs of gelt haunt me to this day.
