Why the name "Griffith"?

Yeah, I read the FAQ and I hope I'm in the right group.
Griffith because of the movie director... But why him? His movie "The Birth of a Nation" is often described as one of the most racist movies ever made, this movie is the reason why KKK was refunded. I don't think it is the best decision to name a software after Griffith. There are other directors who have a more clean slate. Of course it is not my decision how you name your software, but it somehow casts a poor light on you. Sorry, that i have to say that, because the software itself is great. ;)

Well, according to your website FAQ Griffith was called after D. W. Griffith, a famous movie director. The FAQ also mentions his movie "The Birth of a nation". Just read the Wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Birth_of_a_Nation#Ideology_and_accuracy
After the movie was shown in the cinemas the Ku Klus Klan revived.
So, from my point of view, this is a quite critical name for a software.
