Good day

I have downloaded your program and have entered so many movies already onto the program, but all of a sudden the program does not want to open.  I do not want to uninstall it and install it again, else the lot of time I have taken to enter each movie will be lost.  I have however made a backup after each session working in Griffith if that might help.

I tried the debug of Griffith as well, but it also doesn't open.  I opened the log file and it contains the following message:

2012-01-12T02:07:17: DEBUG: Griffith(griffith:1469): config file used: C:\Users\Eoudi\AppData\Roaming\griffith\griffith.cfg

Is there a way you can please assist me in opening the program again so that I can continue working in it? It is defnitely one of the best programs on the internet that is user-friendly and contains all the information which I need,  Thanks for developing such a excellent program.

Thank you and hope to hear from you soon.

Kind regards,

Hi Eoudia,

it seems that the .cfg file is damaged.
Normally, it contains sections like [mainlist] or [database] - are these intact? You may open the file with any editor - if this will fail you already know: you have a problem!
You may send the file as well but this seems to be the problem.

As I'm only a user of the great tool, I cannot go into detail but I assume that you could use any other .cfg file by adopting manually some settings (especially the DB link!) so that you will not loose the movies. In any case: I recommend a backup of the files in DATA where the DB sits.

Have a nice day, Andreas

You have two options:

* first, look into your last backup. There is a griffith.cfg file
which you can use to replace the corrupt one
C:\Users\Eoudi\AppData\Roaming\griffith\griffith.cfg

* second, send me your corrupt cfg file and I will look at it. Perhaps
I can repair it.

I think the first option will work for you.

here's a third option: remove griffith.cfg and set everything from
scratch (you will not loose movies this way, no worry)
