Dear grid-control enthusiasts,

when starting a glite grid-control session, gc stays in the "submitting
jobs..." state or only gives me "no valid endpoint found" error messages
when trying to submit jobs. The file glitewms.info in the working
directory states "False" for all entries.

If I replace this file with one that contains some "True" entries (fix
from ThomasM), gc successfully submits the jobs.

Maybe there is some problem with gc discovering available WMS servers in
the beginning. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I'm using the latest stable fixes.

Cheers,
Dominik

Dear all,

I also experience the same behavior and had to copy the glitewms.info from Thomas M to be able to submit jobs at all. With some long running jobs (3 days so far) the glitewms.info from Thomas M got updated while running and job submission did not work anymore since there were no valid submission servers found anymore. Fortunately, after overwriting the updated glitewms.info with the original one from Thomas M and a restart of gc, submission works again.

I am also using the latest stable fixes (Revision: 469:1486M - stable)

Cheers,
Benjamin

Dear all,

since the glite-wms system is unfortunately deprecated, it can take quite some time for the automatic search to find one of the few remaining WMS servers that work ([grid] wms discovery = true). Usually this search is bootstrapped using the settings from the grid UI - however the settings there also point to a disabled WMS in most cases. So the only thing grid-control can do is randomly ask WMS servers if they accept the job - this random search can take some time. If you want to skip this service discovery, you can indeed use the glitewms.info file from another work directory.
PS: This discover will continue even if it already found a working server - so from time to time you will still see some timeout message - when grid-control tries to find more working WMS servers.

Of course as soon as the remote condor backend is working - it will become the new default and these glite related issues should completely disappear.

Dear all,

the long time reliably working glitewms.info from ThomasM does not work anymore since yesterday evening. Does anyone know a working server or has a still working glidewms.infohe/she could provide? My tries to 'activate' some additional wms servers by setting them to True were not successful.

Cheers

Hi,

try, on the NAF, to diff your glitewms.info with /nfs/dust/cms/user/fcolombo/glitewms.info (the one I was using until the other day) and check if they are the same file or not.
Otherwise...I'm also interested in the answer :-)

Cheers,
Fabio

Hi Fabio,

thanks, it worked with your glitewms.info. Turned out I had some servers deactivated some time ago that now seem to be the only ones that work...

Cheers
Benjamin
