Since its establishment in 1997, Netflix has revolutionized how we watch television. Originally a DVD-by-mail service, the company has transformed itself into a global streaming platform with over 150 million subscribers. With a wide variety of content, including original programming, movies, and documentaries, there is something for everyone on Netflix.

While it's not necessary to keep a record of everything you've ever watched on Netflix, there are times when you want to check your watching history but are worried about how to watch it on Netflix. Whether you're trying to remember the name of a movie you saw a while ago or want to make sure you're keeping up with your New Year's resolution to watch more documentaries, your Netflix viewing history can be a helpful resource.

Netflix offers a variety of ways for you to view your history. You can see all the episodes you've watched on a particular show and how long you watched each episode. You can also see a list of all the movies and TV shows you've added to your watch history and when you added them. If you want to hide an episode from your history, click on the "x" next to the episode. If you have any problems with your recent episodes, you can report them by clicking on the "?" next to that episode.

Once the file is downloaded, it will be saved in CSV format. You can open the file using software like MS Excel etc. Another way to open the file is in Google Docs. Here's how to view the watch history file in CSV format in Google Docs.

Netflix is a Chrome extension that extracts data from a Netflix account and displays it so one can analyze some patterns and get the required information. The extension can also break this data down further, telling you how long you've spent watching different types of content (e.g., documentaries, comedies) and how much of your total viewing time has been dedicated to movies or TV shows. This information can be really helpful in understanding your own Netflix habits and seeing where you might want to make changes.

While Netflix offers exciting movies and series and throws some achievement awards to entertain users throughout the day, the downside offers children exposure to violent or adult videos, due to which kids may interpret these movies incorrectly, affecting their mentality and behavior.

My Netflix is showing that someone in our household watched something I personally wouldn't approve of for kids or teens. However, it isn't in my "viewing history" it is just showing that 3 episodes were watched so I assume it was a while ago.

Is there any way to find out the date it was watched? I will be talking to my kids today and checking their new personalized profile viewing history more carefully, and it is entirely possible DH watched it. I sent him am email asking. (it isn't horrible, but just not what I would want them watching.)

Just so you know we've had things show up as having been watched that we know without a doubt were not watched by anyone in our house. Like you, I was trying to figure out who had watched but then we discovered that the time it was watched there was no one physically able to watch (we were all church). So the recently viewed is not always accurate.

If it's DVD rental history, I can go back to when we first joined, several years ago. If it's online streaming, I don't know. Before if you call customer service they can probably help you access it.

Soon after first beginning to leave my 2nd eldest (then 12) home alone with my youngest (then about 8), I had to leave town suddenly for a couple days b/c my mom was ill, plus I had to leave town for 3 days to take my older (more responsible) daughter to an All State Orchestra thing . . . anyway, there were 3-4 hour periods nearly daily that the two munchkins were home alone between sitters and Dad getting home from work. I got suspicious about their viewing (not allowed) while I was gone, and I discovered the account history option.

The little twits had put on Netflix (some idiotic TV show) the very moment that responsible adults/older sis left the house, and would cut it off the moment we returned. (Got a lot of suspicious calls asking what time I'd be home that month). I figured out they'd watched FORTY HOURS of Netflix in a 10 day period. They never lived it down, and are still banned from watching that silly show ever again. ;)

Honestly, I think it might be what some of you are suggesting, random. It shows something like "Episode 3 of Season 4, 22 minutes out of 49 viewed" and then "Episode 6 of Season 4, 35 minutes of 49 viewed."

I talked to my husband and he said he may have watched a little of it several months back when a friend at work recommended it to him but that happens periodically, someone recommends a show to him and he watches a few episodes and doesn't like it.

That is exactly what happened to us. It was something totally random and in the middle of a series etc. I did the same thing, checked our viewing history etc and got nothing. It was only showing up on the page of the series itself.

Hmmm... with all these random episodes showing up in people's histories: Is is possible that some kind of account hacking is going on? Kind of like when someone in your neighborhood uses your home internet account illegally.

Bummer! We don't use Netflix all that much, having largely switched to Amazon lately, so I'm guessing the viewing history just has a certain number of items in it, maybe 100, or whatever, so if you use it more, then the history would be shorter.

Otherwise, if you just are nervous about a child inappropriately viewing things on Netflix, then you could start checking the history more frequently (as I did after our infamous Netflix Fiasco detailed above), but I eventually have resigned myself to the fact that all the "bad" stuff is readily available at untrackable sites like Youtube, hulu, etc, in addition to Netflix, so I focused my energies on a more overall internet security approach. (Keeping the access to internet in public areas of the house, using OpenDNS to block really bad stuff, etc). A friend actually would cut off their internet when she left the house, and other friends have taken cables/etc when they left the house . . . There are a million approaches, none of which is foolproof, but at the end of the day, the stuff on Netflix is tame compared to what ELSE is out there. . .

However, they truly have never given me a reason to think they are doing anything inappropriate on TV viewing or online. I know to some that may sound like I am a clueless mom, but really, I do trust them in this area, but do check things periodically.

If you've been streaming on Netflix for awhile, you likely have a long history of previously watched shows and movies. Maybe you've been looking for something you know you've watched before, but you just can't remember its name. If you want access the entire list of what you've previously watched on the platform, there is a simple way to download the entire list as a spreadsheet so that it's easily accessible.

Viewing the entire list of your watch history can be done on the desktop version of Netflix. You can also hide titles from your watch history if you want. If you're trying to view the watch history of an account that is no longer active, there is a way to do it, but it's different. You'll just have to download a copy of that account's information instead of viewing ot online.

Titles on this list can also be hidden in a couple ways. First, you can select the cancel icon of a circle with a slash through it next to any title you want to hide. Second, you can scroll to the bottom and click on "Hide All" to hide all titles from your viewing history.

There will be more information within this download than just your viewing history, but this is the only way you can access it if you have an inactive account. If you have trouble getting your info this way, you can email pri...@netflix.com to ask for it.

If you're not the account owner but you still want your information, you can use the above email as well, however you'll need to make sure that you have previously submitted your email in relation to the account, and you'll have to submit a form of ID.

The short answer is no. Netflix will still keep track of your on-platform activities. So to make your browsing and streaming experience truly private, you will need to take some extra measures. And the most efficient one is installing a reliable virtual private network (VPN) on your device.
