Hello !
In elisions I use the <e> tag for the text but I don't add any notes (we don't sing them).
This produces a placement problem, most of the time I get a blank space between this syllable and the previous one.
Unfortunately the explanations in the manual about this tag are insufficient, and I didn't find an acceptable solution. Does someone have an idea ?
Thanks.

Hello,

Note that your MWE is not minimal, it has Garamond, but the problem is not font-dependant.

There should never be an empty set of parentheses above elisions.
"Sa(hi)crá(g)t<e>a</e> ab(fg) al(e)vo(dc)" fixes the issue.

In Christo,
Matthias

(Side note: the behavior of Chant Tools and other WYSIWYG tools on this front is incorrect.)

Hello Matthias !
Thank you for this explanation.
Of course choosing a font is a personal matter; but <EB Garamond> is included in TexLive distro (texmf-dist/fonts/opentype/public/).
Sincerely.
