effect of [op] on bar spacing?

Hello everyone,

AFAIK the documentation is sparse about what constitutes the "dominican rule set" option in \gresetgregoriofont. I understand there are specific ways to manage the plica and other glyphs; but is there specific rules around spacing around (dominican and regular) bars?

I ask because I am working on a dominican book that uses very few dominican-specific notation, but it does use dominican bars and I regularly find the space around those bars too large. I know I can set bar@dominican to a lower upper limit, but if a better solution exists I might as well use it.
