Earlier Rahul Gandhi was stripped of his membership of the Lok Sabha and also barred from holding such a post for eight years for, presumably, spearheading a shrill campaign against the Modani combine.
After a short pause, he'd be back, succeeding in making the Supreme Court intervene to right the terrible wrong via manipulation of the legal system.

This time it's the brute majority in the Lok Sabha that has come handy for the ruling party.
One interesting point here is that in this "cash for query" case, while Moitra loudly keeps claiming (uncontested) that there's no evidence of "cash", we're in the dark also as regards which are the specific "queries" that are/were at least cash-worthy -- even if one, for a while, opts to refrain from asking for the smoking gun? Instead the narrative appears to be being spun around "national security". Of course, the Report is yet to be made public. But, it looks like there are big question marks over both "cash" and "query" that constitute the "case".
To be sure, Moitra, yet, remains to be robbed of her membership. It, however, looks very much certain.
And there's no way she, unlike RG, can return to the current Lok Sabha already in its last lap with only two sessions remaining.
But, the next poll is just round the corner.
It's not without significance that when the verdict of the "kangaroo court" was being finalised/leaked, she was back to her electoral constituency explaining the (sordid?) affair to her would-be voters.
(The TMC -- or its leader number two, battling his own (much more serious) corruption charges, to be more precise -- has eventually extended some lukewarm support to her! The cost of publicly disowning her, for whatever reasons, at this stage is likely to be fairly high.)

<<She claimed, "From day one, it was a kangaroo court. There is no evidence, no trail, nothing. They called me for questioning, which was not complete because the chairperson did not allow others to question me." Moitra highlighted her demand for cross-examining the main complainant, stating, "There was no cross-examining of the main complainant, the alleged bribe giver. I was not allowed to cross-examine the main complainant. Not a single piece of evidence of cash or gifts given till today, the issue of login sharing is a non-issue because every MP shares it with 10 people and there are no NIC rules." Clarifying her stance on login IDs and gifts, Moitra said she has neither done anything "unethical or illegal".

The TMC's Krishnanagar MP from Nadia district in Bengal has been accused of posing questions via her parliamentary account at the behest of businessman Darshan Hiranandani and sharing her login credentials with him, with the complaint filed by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey.

Last week, Moitra had accused the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee of asking humiliating questions during a "cash-for-query" hearing, expressing her willingness to cooperate with the probe while emphasising the importance of protection from misogyny and maintaining decency.

Criticising the Ethics Committee for breaching its mandate, Moitra said, "The mandate of the panel cannot go to expulsion." "If indeed it was a serious matter of cash for a query, that is an issue of a breach of privilege and should have gone to the privilege committee. The Ethics Committee's mandate is to look into unethical conduct. This is a typical hatchet job. Last night, it was leaked to the media," she said.

Moitra contended that there was no discussion on the recommendation; instead, when the meeting started, "the chairman said those in favour, please put up your hand." "Let them place it before the House on the first day of the winter session, and we will take it from there. This expulsion recommendation is for the 17th Lok Sabha. I will be back with a bigger mandate in the next Lok Sabha, but as of now, nothing has happened," she said.

Pointing out discrepancies in the recommendation, Moitra called the ground of breach of national security "laughable." "Second, they have said they have not found any evidence, 'but we are asking you to go to an investigating agency to find evidence'. So if you don't have any evidence, then on what ground are you expelling me or recommending my expulsion? This only shows their true intention," she said.

Moitra clarified that the recommendation is yet to be finalised and said it should be taken up during the Winter Session of Parliament.

She asserted that the decision does not deter her from continuing to question and expose the "BJP-Adani nexus" with greater vigour.

"First of all, this is just a recommendation; nothing has happened as of now. Let them take it up in the Winter Session of Parliament. This actually does nothing to me. This can't shut me up," she said.

Disputing the legitimacy of the Ethics Committee's mandate to recommend expulsion, Moitra criticised the saffron party, stating, "I am happy that BJP has shown to the entire country the mockery they have made of parliamentary democracy." Regarding her future course of action, Moitra remarked, "First let them expel me," indicating that she would announce her next steps afterwards.>>

Speaks for itself.
In fact what one should expect from the gang that celebrates Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav via premature release of the Sanskari bunch, from Modi Ji's Gujarat, serving life terms having been convicted of gangrape and mass murder!?

It evidently was designed to be an operation "Character Assassination".
To show her up as a "woman of loose character".
She remained undaunted.

Mutatis mutandis, this trick had been persistently tried in case of Rahul Gandhi's obviously warm interactions with women of various ages, involving close physical proximity, on camera during his BJY.
But, Rahul Gandhi dismissed such attempts with just casual contempt and kept on (deliberately?) doing the very same.
At the end, this line now lies abandoned.

I was wondering what sort of questioning Mahua Moitra went through. This UTube makes it clear it was a personal attack rather than questions on her so called criminal conduct.

Friends,

Here's an interesting analysis of the issue plus a few updates too.

Before going over to the links, let's recount the essentials of the case:
I. The "Ethics Committee"(!!!) has recommended expulsion of Moitra from the Lok Sabha, which is by now, already pretty close to the end of its term with only two sessions remaining.
That's what the Ethics Committee can do -- as per its own claim, disputed by Moitra.
The opposition members of the Committee have strongly dissented.
The Report is expected to be placed before the parliament for acceptance after a "debate" over the issue in the very beginning of the next session.
II. In this "cash-for-query" case, no transaction of cash, let alone any smoking gun -- as had been found in the infamous JMM case -- has been located by the Committee, and this failure has been implicitly admitted via the recommendation for "investigation". (It's quite another matter that she is to be expelled regardless!!!)
Quite interestingly, the specific questions that serve the interests of Darshan Hiranandani have also, apparently, not been flagged.
III. Consequently, yet another charge has been added.
Compromising "national security" by way of login details with an Indian citizen living abroad having non-Indian relatives.
IV. Though the first charge is far from dropped, the focus has shifted to "national security", which should be way beyond the remit of the "Ethics Committee".
V. In the meanwhile, the protocol for login has been revised. That strongly suggests that the earlier protocol was not breached.

No! It's not "flawed".
It's plain "farcical". Or even "monstrous".

It all began as "cash for query".
Hence, the parliamentary Ethics Committee.

Now, as it stands, there's no "cash", or at least no evidence of that.
There's also no, as yet any public, listing of "queries" -- queries that serve the business interests of a (presumed) "business rival" of Adani -- either.

The Ethics Committee had started off, on the contrary, with a fishing expedition as regards wIith whom Ms Moitra had slept in the recent past???
With state agencies at its service.
That's its "ethics".
Never mind.

Ms Moitra, however to its utter embarrassment, refused to be embarrassed and stoutly stonewalled such nasty forays.

So, the Ethics Committee -- or its majority section, to be more precise -- has now settled down to "breach of national security"!
Fine!

With the current regime, it's a very useful bogey to be used rather liberally against its deemed opponents whenever found convenient.
"Days after the Supreme Court collegium made public reports of the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) and the Intelligence Bureau (IB) as it rejected the government's objections to its recommendations for appointments as judges, law minister Kiren Rijiju stressed on Tuesday that the conduct of the collegium was violative of the convention and a matter of “grave concern”.
"Putting the sensitive or secret reports of RAW and IB in public domain is a matter of grave concern on which I will react at an appropriate time,” Rijiju said during a function of the law ministry."
(Ref.: 'Collegium airing IB, RAW reports matter of grave concern: Rijiju' at
<https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/collegium-airing-ib-raw-reports-matter-of-grave-concern-rijiju/articleshow/97291731.cms>.)
That's the charge, the then, Union Law Minister -- and no other -- levelling against the Supreme Court Collegium (constituted of the five seniormost) of Judges discharging their official functions! Just about ten months back.
Now, hardly anyone recalls.
That's its habit.

Never mind.

Only two issues.
One, what "national security" has actually or potentially been breached?
The access to the subject website opens the door to what "sensitive information"???
Two, if indeed it's a case of "breach of national security", what business the Ethics Committee has got to do with it!?
There're specified agencies to deal with? No!?

ADDENDUM
As and when Ms Moitra is thrown out of the Parliament, it'd set a very dangerous precedent. A precedent that would open the door to the era of expelling inconvenient opposition members on any whatever contrived ground just by weaponising numerical brute majority.
Yet another significant shift towards transmutation of India -- aka Bharat -- into a "Putinist Democracy", a "democracy" with an imposing Parliament Building and freed of any genuine Opposition.
