Mahesh Jethmalani Fumbles on Supreme Court Verdict in Defamation Sentencing of Rahul Gandhi

The issue on the table is whether the unreasoned and unprecedented maximum sentence slapped on Rahul Gandhi was meant just to debar him from entering the Parliament?
And whether that's a legitimate aim for a court?

The answers to both should be all too obvious.
Consequently, at least for once, ever-eloquent Mahesh Jethmalani is found virtually fumbling for words.
Btw, apart from being an eminent BJP leader, he was the one in the Supreme Court to defend the (egregious?) verdicts of the lower courts.


So, for now, Modi's drive to make an Alexei Navalny (ref.: <https://apnews.com/article/russia-navalny-opposition-crackdown-prison-term-b42769d2ba1beb99954279fbb93815d4>) of Rahul Gandhi suffers a jolt!
And has backfired too!
