India's Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has released SOP for asbestos for public comments before 17 September

Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has released a 11-page long SOP for asbestos for public comments before 17 September, 2026. SOP been prepared in partial compliance with verdict dated November 26, 2024 by National Green Tribunal (NGT). 

These are focussed on disposal of asbestos waste.

Indian ministry of education has written to all states to cover school roofs having asbestos with paint. 

Indian Ministry of Environment and Forests hasn't submitted action taken report as yet. 

Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs has stated that no new buildings of it's Central Public Works Department

according to Delhi Schedule of Rates (DSR) 2021 have asbestos.
