As Himalayan states witness another swirl of unprecedented rains, floods and landslides, Ravi Chopra, conservationist, researcher and Director of Peoples' Science Institute, explains how the tragic cycle of disasters unfolding in the mountains has become an annual affair. A nexus of climate change, reckless big infra - roads, tunnels, dams - construction, rapid urbanisation, tourism infrastructure are responsible for this, he points out, stressing the need for community led and environmentally rejuvenating solutions.
