Gary, The tide is turning. Sunday’s New York Times article, (Should America Bag the Plastic Bag?) demonstrates that people and communities around the world are waking up to the need to phase out single-use plastic bags and end their harmful impacts. The next two weeks are crucial for California; we’re fast approaching a ‘live or die’ vote in the State Senate on SB 405 (Padilla), which will finally ban single use plastic bags statewide. But the plastics industry continues to air their radio and TV ads across the state—spreading misinformation and falsely painting their product as an environmental choice. Here are three urgent actions you can take if you believe it’s time for statewide ban on plastic bags: 1)    Sign our Petition in support of SB 405; 2)    Make a special contribution to support our campaign; 3)    Forward this message to 5 Friends or post on Facebook. This is not going to be easy. We need all the help we can get if we’re going to fight the plastics industry and their assault on the facts. Will you help by making a contribution right now? We’ve been fighting to get this done for years and we can’t stop now.  Passing SB 405 means the rest of the state will join the 75 California communities like LA County that have taken a stand by banning single-use plastic bags.
