This is a very cool interactive map from the folks at MIT who like to put GPS trackers on waste. This time, working with Basel Action Network they did it on e-waste from around the country and found that much if it was going to Asia for recycling in not surprisingly not very environmentally or worker friendly places.  The map shows where each item went, and includes a physical description of the location as well as a photo.  http://senseable.mit.edu/monitour-app/

I will say that this is a small sample, hopefully not indicative of the entire industry.
