NCRA’s popular Introduction to Recycling Class (ITR), San Francisco. Monday March 24 – Wednesday March 16. A great background for a career in the field, this 3-day class introduces trade terms, history, law, practice, current issues and many of the technical problems facing the recycling industry. Taught by longtime Zero-Waster and Materials Doctor Arthur Boone, most of the day will be spent listening to guest speakers and completing exercises designed to enhance the basic concepts in the field. ITR is so informative that attendees have even included those who have been in the field for years. Register here.

In conjunction with NCRA ZWW, the GrassRoots Recycling Network (GRRN) will be offering its popular Introduction to Zero Waste Class in downtown San Francisco on the Wednesday, March 20. Taught by GRRN’s Rick Anthony and Portia Sinnott, the workshop will demonstrate how Zero Waste can be a key part of community and business sustainability plans, help contribute to reducing greenhouse gases and global cooling, and help create jobs! In addition to interactive lectures, participants will review sample Zero Waste Community plans and discuss different approaches communities have taken. Completion certificates will be issued for those that complete the class and pass the test. Register here.
