Single-stream recycling fails in Auburn, Maine

Sept. 22 -- The city of Auburn, Maine, is moving away from its single-stream recycling for curbside pickup and will instead offer a dual-sort program, the Sun Journal reported.

Hurrayyyyy! Auburn votes for real recycling, where the priority is supplying the market with good-quality material rather than dumbed-down recycling that supplies dirty markets overseas -- and also plenty of residuals for the local incinerator. Good job, Auburn.

Thanks for forwarding this, Steve!

Good news. Reading, PA, population 81,000, is sticking with dual stream despite pressures to go to single stream.
