For those of you who haven’t heard this news:

Dongho Chang has been drafted by the Kraken (in the form of WSDOT) , meaning he will no longer skate for SDOT.

But perhaps this gives SDOT a chance for a fresh start.

Subject: New Traffic (Transportation) Operations Division Director

Senior Managers,

I am pleased to announce that Mr. Dongho Chang, P.E., has been appointed to the position of Director of the Traffic Operations Division, effective September 16, 2021 (soon to be Transportation Operations Division).

Dongho is no stranger to WSDOT. The majority of his 29 year career was working for the Northwest Region Traffic Office, where he was a team member in transportation operations, ITS design, signal operations, and led a regional area operations team. Dongho next served as City Traffic Engineer for the City of Everett and then the City of Seattle. He is excited to return to the agency to help continue WSDOT’s efforts to be the national leader in sustainable land use and transportation, providing and supporting safe and efficient transportation options for all Washington travelers, including those who do not and cannot drive.

I also want to express my sincere thanks to Ron Vessey who has done an excellent job serving as Acting Directing for almost 1.5 years now, and to those who picked up other duties due to Ron’s long acting role.

Please join me in recognizing Ron for his service and welcoming Dongho to his new role with the department (he can be reached at dongh...@yahoo.com ).

Marshall Elizer
Assistant Secretary, M2D2

Maybe. That will require a new mayor who cares more about people who don’t want to or can’t drive everywhere.
