Directed by the voter-approved Seattle Transportation Levy, SDOT is forming a Transportation Funding Task Force—a volunteer advisory group that will develop recommendations to the Mayor and City Council on how to generate funding for Seattle’s transportation system. Together, Task Force members will explore legally viable, near-term actionable approaches to generating transportation funding. You don’t need to be a transportation or finance expert to apply.  You can apply as:

  • Individual representing yourself; or
  • “Organizational Representative” formally authorized to speak on behalf of your employer or member organization (i.e. advocacy, non-profit, community-based, consultant, other employer)

This is a great chance to influence policy making around how we can fund sidewalks, bridges and paving projects. If you'd like to apply as the official NW Greenways representative, let me know!

As a Task Force member, you will:

  • Review materials about transportation infrastructure, funding options, and city policy
  • Attend monthly meetings and participate in discussions
  • Consider trade-offs between different needs and priorities
  • Share your perspective based on your lived experience, professional background, and/or community knowledge
  • Help develop recommendations for the Mayor and City Council focused on transportation infrastructure funding and delivery recommendations

Members should expect to dedicate approximately 3–6 hours per month. This includes:

  • One in-person meeting per month (about 2–3 hours, plus travel time)
  • Reviewing materials before meetings
  • Optional working groups or follow-up activities
  • One onboarding session before the Task Force begins (plus 3–5 hours of pre-reading)

The Task Force will meet from August 2026 through December 2027.

Compensation of $75/hour may be available to those who demonstrate financial hardship.

Apply by May 31
