On August 31 the city is hosting a Zoom session about the census data applicable to Seattle (which will form the basis of changing the Seattle City Council District Boundaries as well as the State and Federal legislative district boundaries to equalize the population of the respective districts) .

I pre-registered and just received the email below.

Earlier this month, the U.S. Census Bureau released the 2020 Census Redistricting Data which gives us our first look at the 2020 Census data for local communities and neighborhoods. The topics include:

    • Population totals
    • Population by race & Hispanic/Latino origin and by broad age group (under 18, 18+)
    • Housing unit counts and occupancy status

At our I Love Census Data session this month, Seattle and King County demographers will share highlights from newly released Census data at the local and neighborhood levels. Seattle 2020 Census Taskforce member Cherry Cayabyab will be facilitating community questions and comments about the results.

Join us to find out how our communities have grown over the most recent decade.  See what the Census says about how the racial makeup of Seattle and King County neighborhoods has changed. Learn how to access these data for your own community and find out what other data will be coming.

Presenters:

Diana Canzoneri,  City of Seattle Demographer

Rebeccah Maskin, King County Demographer

Cherry Cayabyab, 2020 Seattle Census Taskforce member and KAYA strategic
