Hello NW Greenways Members!
It's officially the fall season and Seattle has returned to default settings (clouds and gray, but also still some classic brisk days). Looking ahead we have several opportunities to engage with NW Greenways: Join our advocacy team to support 3rd Ave NW safety improvements, mark your calendars for our November 6 meeting, and help plan World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims on November 16. [THANK YOU] Viewlands Walk, Bike, & Roll to school day - October 8

Thank you so much to several NW Greenways community members for supporting Viewlands walk/roll, bike groups, and the celebration table at school this week. The school collected 100 signatures on the "How we got to school" poster. Save the date and help spread the word for the next Walk, Bike, & Roll to school day event on May 6, 2026. Reach out to bik...@viewlandsptsa.org if you would like to know more.
[REMINDER] Schools & Road Safety
Now that school is underway, it's even more important to pay attention on the road. Public Health – Seattle & King County wants to help everyone travel safely. Whether you're driving, walking, biking, or riding the bus, learn some key tips to keep in mind.
3rd Ave NW Safety Improvements

During NW Greenways October meeting we decided to focus on 3rd Ave NW safety improvements. The identified targeted safety improvements include: (1) An all-way stop at N 107th St to slow commuter traffic in front of Viewlands Elementary school , (2) Traffic calming between 85th–Holman, and (3) A flashing beacon at N 83rd. These updates would support protecting students, pedestrians, and cyclists while improving community mobility. Our first priority will be advocating for the all-way stop at N 107th St. Reach out to nwgre...@gmail.com if you would like to support this work.

World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims - November 16

On November 16, communities worldwide honor those lost or injured in traffic crashes and advocate for safer streets on World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims. NW Greenways invites members to help plan a local activity—whether a memorial, moment of silence, or awareness event—to recognize this important day and take action for road safety. Please reach out to nwgre...@gmail.com if you would like to help plan something.
