Hello Neighbors,

We’re getting ready for construction on the final chapter in the years-long effort to transform Greenwood Ave N into a safer, more accessible corridor for everyone. The improvements along Greenwood Ave N will make it easier for everyone to travel to local businesses, schools, community destinations, and transit hubs. Improvements include:

  • New sidewalks with curbs and planting strips
  • Curb ramps that meet ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) standards

On Tuesday, July 14, crews will start moving equipment and supplies to the project area and prepare the site for construction. Please be alert for parking restrictions, lane shifts, and other construction activities as you travel through the area.

Read below for more information on construction and what to expect. Please encourage your neighbors to sign up to receive email updates to get the latest project and construction news.

Construction Sequencing

  • We will start construction on the east side of Greenwood Ave N between N 137th St and N 133rd St; and between N 117th St and N 112th St, working north to south
  • Once we reach the southern limit on the east side, we will move to the west side of the street and work north to south again
  • Generally, we will work on one section of sidewalk at a time, completing demolition and installing the new sidewalk before moving to the next section. We may start preparation and demolition work on the next section of sidewalk while we install the sidewalk in the adjacent section.
  • We expect to work in each section for approximately 2 to 3 months before moving to the next

What to Expect

  • Construction starting July 14 and lasting for 7 to 8 months
  • Weekday working hours from 7 AM – 3 PM
  • Lane reductions near active construction areas from 9 AM – 3 PM. 1 lane in each direction is maintained throughout construction and all vehicle lanes are open during peak commute times and weekends.
  • Demolition which will cause noise, dust, and vibrations
  • Driveway access is maintained with some temporary closures. We will notify affected properties about driveway closures in advance.
  • Walk up access to homes and businesses is maintained throughout construction

Project Area

  • Greenwood Ave N between N 136th St and N 137th St (east and west side of the street)
  • Greenwood Ave N between N 133rd St and N 134th St (east and west side of the street)
  • Greenwood Ave N between N 112nd St to N 117th St (east and west side of street)
