Hello NW Greenways Members!
We're here to share recent news and upcoming events with all of you.
❄️ As we wrap up 2025, NW Greenways is looking ahead with a lot of momentum and we’d love your help shaping what comes next. This month’s newsletter highlights advocacy efforts on 3rd Ave NW, Roosevelt Way N / Pinehurst Station access, and homezone expansion, plus opportunities to step into event volunteer roles that build community connection. You’ll also find details on the holiday lights bike ride this weekend, a rebranding update from Seattle Neighborhood Greenways, and our January 8 monthly meeting (note the special date). Read on for ways to plug in, speak up, and keep our neighborhoods safe, welcoming, and people-centered in the year ahead.

3rd Ave NW Safety Improvements
NW Greenways needs volunteer support to help prioritize and move our ideas forward with city leadership for 3rd Ave NW safety improvements. Thank you to Carlo Alcantara for stepping up to supporting this effort by connecting with city leadership. We need additional volunteer leadership support for this effort to continue moving these safety improvements forward. Are you interested in supporting this work? Reach out to nwgre...@gmail.com if you’re interested.
Roosevelt Way N / Pinehurst Station Access
Thank you to Jeremy Keeton for stepping up to support our campaign for the Roosevelt Way N pedestrian friendly boulevard design to the Pinehurst Station that local design firm Fehr & Peers is doing for NW Greenways. This committee can use other support to move the design forward with city leadership. Are you interested in supporting this work? Reach out to nwgre...@gmail.com if you’re interested.

Homezone program expansion
During our December meeting we discussed the opportunity to work Mayor Katie Wilson’s transportation/mobility committee and SDOT Homezone program team to add new homezones and/or expand existing homezones in the NW Greenways boundaries. This may include expanding the existing Aurora Licton Springs Village (ALUV homezone) and creating a true NE Greenwood homezone to address traffic calming needs from Aurora Ave N to Greenwood Ave N. Again, thank you to Carlo Alcantara for offering to connect with city leadership about expanding the homezone program. We need additional volunteer leadership support for this as well. Are you interested in supporting this work? Reach out to nwgre...@gmail.com if you’re interested.

Holiday lights bike ride around Olympic Manor (this weekend!) ❄️🚴♂️🚴♀️
It’s that time of year again for our annual bike ride around Olympic Manor! Join NW Greenways and Ballard-Fremont Greenways groups on December 13, starting at 6:30pm to bike around one of the most festive neighborhoods in the north Seattle area. The route is approximately 9 miles and family friendly. Share with friends!

Join the NW Greenways Events Team!
We’re looking for one or more event volunteers to help us grow community connections through organizing walks, bike rides, and happy hours at family-friendly breweries. This role is about 3–4 hours per month and includes attending monthly meetings, helping organize events, and occasionally partnering with other greenway groups on shared activities.
By stepping into this role, you’ll help strengthen NW Greenways, bring neighbors together, and create the kind of vibrant, people-centered community we all want to live in.

Seattle Neighborhood Greenways - Rebranding update (Please vote by 12/10)
SNG has decided to transition to Seattle Streets Alliance this winter and is asking all neighborhood groups to make decisions on adopting the branding and group names by December 15. NW Greenways discussed this topic at our December meeting and decided to adopt the updated branding, which will include a new logo for our group, but to defer to our community for input on a name change.
🗳️Please join the Discord conversation about the name change using this link and cast your vote by tomorrow, Wednesday, December 10.
See SNG’s Neighborhood Group Rebranding Guidance for all details!
