Dear neighborhood presidents –
Nashville’s Metropolitan Transit Authority is announcing two (2) public meetings in East Nashville this month for the Broadway | West End transit study. As you may know, a detailed analysis of mass transit options along the Broadway | West End corridor has been commissioned. Based upon the public support and interest MTA received to include East Nashville within the study, MTA has determined that it can and will include East Nashville as part of the detailed, phase 1 analysis.
At the upcoming community meetings, MTA will be providing an overview of the study progress-to-date, including information about the modes being considered (Bus Rapid Transit, Light-Rail, and Street Car), as well as possible alignments. In addition, information will be presented regarding possible land-use scenarios around potential station locations. MTA is looking for feedback on what East Nashville residents think are the best options.
The public meetings are scheduled for:
Wednesday, August 24, 2011, 11:00am - 1:00pm
East Park Community Center, 700 Woodland Street, Nashville, TN
Thursday, August 25, 2011, 5:00pm – 7:00pm
East Branch Library, 206 Gallatin Road, Nashville, TN
Information about the meetings will be sent through other channels shortly. In the meantime, I would be most grateful if you could (a) plan to attend one of these important meetings, and (b) disseminate this message to your constituencies and encourage their attendance.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me or Jim McAteer, Director of Planning & Grants at MTA, at (615) 862-5665 or james....@nashville.gov
Thank you,
Mike
