Greetings Greenwood Park Neighbors,
Several nights ago one of our homeowner's vehicles, which was parked in their driveway, was broken into including the vehicle trunk. Fortunately they had no valuables in the car or the trunk but some of the vehicle's documents were stolen. Fortunately a kind samaritan found the documents which had been discarded along the path off of 31st and returned them to the vehicle owner.
This is a reminder that, although we have had relatively few instances, there are bad people out there. If you need to leave a vehicle in your drive or on the street, be sure to remove all valuables from the vehicle - including the trunk. You cannot assume that just being out of sight is a guarantee that the vehicle will not be targeted. This especially includes garage door openers. Leaving them in an unattended vehicle is like leaving a key in your front door. Several years ago we had an instance of someone stealing an opener and attempting to break into the house.
Please be safe and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
Have a great summer.
