This sounds like a variation of a similar scam using cars: 1 car pulls in front of you and slams on brakes too fast for you to react so you hit them. And of course that car is full of people who all claim injuries. There is also a car following that “saw the whole thing” but claims the first car never cut in front.
This is one reason I’ve started using a dash cam.

So my coworker was driving on McCormick and someone on bike intentionally jumped in front of her car stating being hit by her, fast forward his friend was behind her on his bike...police was called...
