Police arrested two men in a car by exit 5 who were suspects in an
attempted theft of a laptop computer at nearby Staples on East Putnam
Avenue Sunday.
Police said a manager noticed one man disconnecting the security
device on a laptop with a screwdriver while the second man acted as a
lookout.
When the manager approached the suspect unscrewing the laptop, he
dropped the computer and ran out the door. The second man also fled.
The manager called police and followed the suspects.
Police stopped the car on East Putnam Avenue near exit 5. Although
police didn't find any stolen merchandise, they discovered the TomTom
GPS navigation system had the Staples address as the last entry on it.
A socket-type screwdriver was also found on the front seat, said
police.
