Hi Green Wheelers -
Well its a new year for transportation in Humboldt. A couple opportunities to support trails and roadway safety in Arcata!
First, the City of Arcata is considering installing a radar speed sign on Old Arcata Road. Attached is a petition being circulated by Bayside residents to urge the City to do this. Many Bayside residents have been working tirelessly to improve transportation safety through Bayside. A radar feedback sign (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radar_speed_sign) could be one tool to slow down traffic and improve safety through Bayside. Please return the petitions by 2/14/2013 to either BaysidePride.org or Jacoby Creek School (the addresses are provided on the petition).
Second, the The City of Arcata is looking to close the $10,000 funding gap for the Arcata Ridge Trail (http://www.cityofarcata.org/arcata-ridge-trail), and you can help by making a tax-deductible donation to the Arcata Forest Fund! You can make a donation on-line through Humboldt Area Foundation's website (http://www.hafoundation.org/donations/donations.php). Be sure to specify that your donation is for the "Arcata Forest Fund". As a community we can help make the Arcata Ridge Trail a reality!
