A new section of the Eureka Waterfront Multi-use Trail is having a groundbreaking celebration Saturday from 1-3pm. Come on out to join community members and trail and bicycle advocates for a celebration of a great new piece of trail and connectivity in Eureka. See below for the details!

Saturday June 2nd: Elk River Access Area - Hiksari' Trail Ground-breaking Celebration
The City of Eureka and Redwood Community Action Agency will host a
community celebration of the Elk River Access Area - Hiksari’ Trail on
Saturday, June 2, 2012. The event will take place from 1 – 3 p.m. In
addition to the ground-breaking ceremony to be performed by local
elected officials, including Eureka Mayor Frank Jager and County
Supervisor Virginia Bass, the event will include a walking tour of the
future trail and description of amenities, a first look at examples of
the signs and maps to be placed along the trail, coffee and
refreshments, live music by a local folk-country band, and lots of
information about this trail and other trail efforts in the region. The
celebration will take place at the trail access area located on the bay
side end of Truesdale Street in Eureka, just off of highway 101
(adjacent to the new Shamus T. Bones restaurant). For more information
