Saturday June 2nd: Elk River Access Area - Hiksari' Trail Ground-breaking Celebration

The City of Eureka and Redwood Community Action Agency will host a community celebration of the Elk River Access Area - Hiksari’ Trail on Saturday, June 2, 2012. The event will take place from 1 – 3 p.m. In addition to the ground-breaking ceremony to be performed by local elected officials, including Eureka Mayor Frank Jager and County Supervisor Virginia Bass, the event will include a walking tour of the future trail and description of amenities, a first look at examples of the signs and maps to be placed along the trail, coffee and refreshments, live music by a local folk-country band, and lots of information about this trail and other trail efforts in the region. The celebration will take place at the trail access area located on the bay side end of Truesdale Street in Eureka, just off of highway 101 (adjacent to the new Shamus T. Bones restaurant).
