Bike Month is here! Hope you all are able to join us for a variety of events this month. Come out and meet fellow cyclists, show support for the bicycle as a viable transportation option and have fun out there!
Arcata Bike to Work Day - Thursday, May 10
Bike to Work Day will kick off in Arcata at the Co-op’s “Morning Energizer Station” where bicyclists wearing helmets can roll in from 7:00-9:00 am for free hot drinks and snacks. The Bike to Work Day celebration will then continue at noon, as bicyclists will rally on the Arcata Plaza for contests, free raffle prizes, bike tune ups, and the chance to mingle with fellow cyclists.
Bike Film Festival - Thursday, May 10 6-9pm at the Arcata Playhouse
Join the herds of local bicycle enthusiasts flocking to the Arcata Playhouse to celebrate the world’s best invention: the bicycle. This is a free bicycle film festival for cyclists of all styles to hang out, mingle and enjoy films that explore the diverse art, functionality and unique culture of bicycling. A variety of short films will highlight all aspects of bicycling from its history to the role bicycling has in today’s society. Providing delicious food and refreshments will be the Humboldt Foggy Bottoms; a local cycling team riding in the AIDS LifeCycle from San Francisco to Los Angeles in June.
Arts Arcata Community Bike Ride - Friday, May 11 Arcata Plaza 6pm - Spring is upon us and time to get those wheels rolling for May Bike Month! Join us for a family-friendly community bike ride for Arts Arcata. Meet at the Arcata Plaza for a fun and easy 4 mile pedal through the Arcata Bottoms.
Eureka Bike to Work Day - Thursday, May 17 - Eureka will celebrate Bike to Work Day on Thursday, May 17th, kicking off day with a Morning Energizer Station at the Eureka Co-op. Then join the Bike to Work Day crowd at the Old Town Gazebo at noon to rally with fellow cyclists. Join other cyclists as we take to the streets for the ‘minimal mass’ ride following the rally to celebrate biking as a viable transportation option while demonstrating cyclists’ rules of the road.
Bike Gear Swap - Saturday, May 19 10-noon Pacific Outfitters Parking Lot in Arcata - Seeking gently used bike gear for the spring riding season? Join us for a bike gear swap to purchase, sell or swap gently used gear with your community. Local bike shops will also be present with discounted items.
