Tell the Coastal Commission: No to Caltrans 101 Corridor Project without the Bay Trail!
Send your comments today!
On September 11-13, the Coastal Commission will meet to decide whether to approve or deny Caltrans’ proposal for the Eureka-Arcata 101 Corridor. Caltrans is proposing to build an overpass at Indianola Cutoff and close all other medians between Eureka and Arcata, which will result in increased traffic speeds without any improvements for cyclist and pedestrian safety. Caltrans has not adequately addressed the public’s concern that increasing speeds on the 101 corridor will result in unsafe conditions for cyclists and pedestrians. The Coastal Commission needs to hear from Humboldt County residents that it is unacceptable for Caltrans to turn the 101 Corridor adjacent to Humboldt Bay into a high-speed freeway without safe accommodations for cyclists and pedestrians. For those who want to see a Bay Trail in the near future, we think linking these two projects is the best way to get there.
Tell the Coastal Commission that Caltrans needs to do a better job!
