Dear Greenwheels Community and birder friends,

Have you ever wondered what a Godwit is?  Would you like to see a Godwit and lots of other birds while riding your bicycle?  Then come join the 2nd annual "Birding by Bicycle" tour during the Godwit Days Spring Migration Festival.  On Sunday, April 20, we will depart from the Arcata Community Center at 9 am and will return by 1 pm.  The planned route is to bike (at a very mellow pace - no spandex required) through the Arcata Bottoms and to loop north towards Lanphere Rd or Mad River County Park.  Bring your binoculars and a snack to share.

Space is limited - sign up soon.  Daily registration is $15 for students and $20 for all others and the bicycling tour costs an extra $5.  Registration includes the Friday evening opener, the Saturday evening lecture, the Sunday afternoon wrap-up at Hum Brews and many more events.  If you are already participating in Godwit Days, just sign up for the trip and/or find out more about Godwit Days:

You can also come on the tour "stand-by" and show up a few minutes early Sunday morning and just pay the $5.  Last year we saw over 50 species of birds.  If you don't have a bike or binoculars, send me an email, and I will see what I can do.  Thanks to everyone who made this a great trip last year and can't wait to track down Godwits and their friends again this year!

Sincerely,
Alissa Fogg
