Hello Everyone,

Spring has Sprung and life is alive here at the Green St Coop and
Garden Gang! We are in the process of updating our Google and
Facebook Groups as we do the same here at our urban homestead.

Mel and I have Spring cleaned both Homes from top to bottom so
everyone is starting on a clean slate and equal footing for
maintaining the Coop on the inside and outside.

We want to be as flexible as possible allowing everyone to create
their own household and garden schedules as much as possible.

We started a garden hours log so everyone can track their own hours
and gauge how many hours they need to be putting in over any given
month. Work load will vary from month to month given the time of year
and need. Work should be divided 8 ways. So every week or so hours
will be tallied up and divided by 8. Your hours should be in that
ball park and if not you can compensate by doing additional hours over
the up coming weeks so that your hours equal out by the end of a month
period. Feel free to invite friends, family and neighbors over to
participate and count toward your hours. Hour requirements over the
past and next couple of weeks will be a bit heavy as we strive to get
the garden planted and to maintenance level, so please pitch in
accordingly.

A dry erase task board and our Salt Lake City Green Street Garden Gang
Google Group Web Site will be written up and updated every week or so.

Work load for the next couple of weeks, of course, will be heavier as
we all need to be focusing on finishing getting the garden planted and
bees settled in. So we will need everyone to adjust their schedules
accordingly, especially if you haven't been available over the last
few weeks/weekends.

Once we get the garden planted we will then be able to move into
maintenance mode and divide the homes/garden into several different
venues for each of us to then pair up in taking responsibility as
monthly Stewards/Coordinators.

For example, all new residents start with being responsible for the
poultry for their first month. It is a fun and easy place for
beginners to start and get acclimated to life here at the coop. It is
the Poultry Steward's responsibility to ensure that someone at the
Coop has taken care of the poultry daily. Current, poultry
coordinator is Jake. Sarah Miller will be stepping into his shoes and
he will be training her when she arrives around the 6th of June.
Jake, please ensure that the Poultry chart is checked off daily and
ensure that someone covers you if you are out of town.

After the garden is planted we will also be having people become
coordinators/stewards of Cooking/Culinary to ensure that everyone
signs up to prepare a Vegetarian Meal once a week and is signing up to
make homemade bread, kombucha, yogurt, keifer, etc on a regular
basis. In the meantime, everyone should be making appx one meal a
week. We will be soon putting a board up for everyone to sign up
for meal/food prep once a week.

Everyone will also rotate being a Monthly Household Task Coordinator/
Steward and a Monthly Garden Coordinator/Steward who will be in charge
of those venues respectively.

Here are the Garden Totals from 15 May 2010- 25 May 2010

Kim 7
Jake 8
Gabe 15
Dan 29.5
Mel 32.5
Babs 57.5
Joy 3
George 3
TOTAL HOURS 155.5 divided 8 =19.4375

if you were short hours during that 10 day time frame please look to
make them up over the next week or so with the rest of the seeds/
seedlings are needing to get planted as soon as possible in a timely
fashion. We need everyone to adjust their schedules to make sure we
are all contributing equally so that we are all able to have
personal, social and professional lives. The new Garden Hours Log
starting 26 May 2010 is on the kitchen table, please make sure your
hours are logged so you get credit for your hours and are equaling to
1/8 of the Coop total.

We will be posting our Garden Task list on our Garden Gang google site
and to dry erase board so that both our Coop and Community Members can
be involved with us in the garden and with meals.

If you have any questions let us know.

Babs and Mel
