Hello Everyone,
Since we have two meetings now, Wednesday and Friday, I thought I would just do one set of meeting notes from now on. I'll try to send it out on Sundays or Mondays.
Meeting Notes:
> This Wednesday, the 20th, we have a table reserved in the Union from about 10am to 2pm, BUT I found out there will be a press conference in the CEEE about the coal plant from 10:15-11:00am. So, we will only be at the table from about 11:15am-1:30pm. We have some volunteers for those times too, but if you could stop by and help that would be great.
- Attached is the sheets I have copied and pasted from the email about the Feb. 20th call-in day. Print off some, cut them, and drop them by the table in the Union! We need to hand these out to people.
Tabling on Wednesday:
11:15-12:00 Matt, Cody
12:00-1:30 Jana, Bri
> If you can make it to the
CEEE at 10am on Wednesday, bring or tell as many people as you can. This is a national call-in day, so we need to make a huge impact.
> Green Project UNI and UNI Cable system PSAs:
- We need some volunteers to maybe be in the video (approx. 2 min) about recycling drop-offs in Cedar Falls. There would probably be a shot of the Wal Mart one, the Panther Parkway bins here at UNI, and so on. . .
- Our good friend Michael Vaughn is heading this off and is looking for anyone interested, do you still have Theater majors??
- I would like to have some names by next week, so reply to this if you are interested. So far Jana has said she could help be a voice to the videos. Thanks Jana!!!
> Environmental Film Showing:
- At Fridays meeting we had a good discussion about what and when to show a film or series of films.
- After checking out the calander and considering midterms, spring break, and the time it takes to publicize, we are aiming for showing some good films in April, maybe the week of Earth Day. We might as well show this films when we can get a lot of people there and make a big impact.
- For film ideas, we thought of having a "blockbuster" type movie at the beginning of end to the week. For example, "Children of Men" or "Day after Tomorrow". We could have a discussion on how they are relevant and even point out flaws. Other informational films would be some National Geographic or Discovery channel specials and documentaries like "Sicko". . . I also have a sweet Captain Planet tape on global warming.
> Down the Road: Planning other Earth Day Celebration Events for April 22nd.
Next Meetings: > Wednesday evening, 7pm, McCollum Science Hall, 2nd floor longue outside of the Lantz Aud. and near the polar bear. This is just inside the entrance by Seerley. We can also move to the number of other longue areas on 2nd floor. But first meet at the original location.
> Friday afternoon at 3pm, the Vibe coffeehouse, above Bought Again Books. Come to this meeting if you want to help or figure out where to take Roots recycling.
Drive, bike, and walk safely.
