I've just sent the following message to members of the Mountain View
Coalition for Sustainable Planning. I thought it might be of interest
to you, too. If we can get more people with a self-affiliation of
Green Mountain View involved in this, I'd like to add GMV to the list
of co-sponsors, too. (No money will be needed.)

Subject: We need a few good people to help with our film series


MVCSP, in collaboration with people affiliated with several other
local environmental groups, is doing a Summer Outreach Project. We
will be putting on the first part of a Mountain View "Films of Vision
and Hope" free film series this July. On Friday evenings starting
July 8, the public is invited to a great location in downtown Mountain
View to spend an hour (from around 7 to 8
p.m.) watching one or more short films about how cities around the
world have tackled, and mastered, sustainability challenges: different
ways of looking at housing, transportation, and so on. Then the
audience will have an opportunity to discuss what they saw, and how we
might apply it here. We'll provide refreshments, too. Organizers of
similar events in Palo Alto and Sunnyvale have found that a lot of
people have wanted to stay around and talk to each other.
This is how our Coalition grows!

First want ad: AV expert.

Our venue has good AV equipment built-in. We'll be showing the movies
from DVD.
We need an addition or backup to our one possible volunteer so far.
You must be available to check out the facility during normal working
hours on a weekday, by early July, and then available again on some or
all Friday evenings July
8-29 from around 6:30 to sometime after 9.

Second want ad: Catering assistants.

We have a Head Caterer, who will need help with procurement (we are
not asking people to cook, just to carry) and help set up and tear
down. Same dates and times as above.

Third want ad: Meeting leaders/facilitators.

We're not sure of our exact needs in this area yet, but if you are an
experienced meeting-leader, please let us know!

If there is some other area you would like to help with, please let us
know that, too. In all cases, please be specific about how firmly you
can commit to being available during the times specified above.

I'm the current front for "us", a group of about 8 people who have
been putting this together. Please email back to me, or talk to me at
the MVCSP meeting on June 9, and I'll take it from there.

And we hope you can come to the movie nights!
