Dear Green Mountain View members,

I was approached by Evelyn Horng of Roonga and had the opportunity to
look at a community sharing program that she's been developing.

Evelyn has asked if members of Green Mountain View might like to try
this program FREE and provide their feedback to her to assist with
development of this new waste-preventing resource.

Roonga is a free community resource for sharing items within a trusted
group. An alternative to general tools like Yahoo Groups or
Craigslist, Roonga allows the creation of a valuable community
inventory of available items over time, allowing community members to
leverage each others’ resources more effectively. In doing so, the
site encourage reuse of items, reducing waste in a community and
encouraging interactions among its members.

Often, there is a disconnect between knowing what someone needs and
what items people have available. Roonga addresses this gap by
encouraging people to proactively post specific needs (before going
out and buying something) and allowing people to post items they are
looking to get rid of (whether to give, lend, rent or sell).
Specifically with respect to lending, Roonga allows someone to post
items they are willing to lend, determine usage terms up front (to
mitigate issues while items are lent out), manage multiple requests
for items, and track where the items are at any given time.

Roonga is currently in beta and looking for interested groups to help
pilot and test the service. Interested parties can contact Evelyn
Horng at eho...@roonga.com.
