Teman2, terutama peminat film dokumenter indie..

Setelah selesainya project 'Jakarta-Berlin' karya Florian Augustin hampir setahun yg lalu, inilah hasil berikut yg berjudul 'Cari Hutan'. Pemuda dari Jerman ini berhasil menangkap keadaan sehari2 para "pelaku" illegal logging di Kalimantan, dimana dia dapat kesempatan utk mencari tahu kondisi kerusakan lingkungan hidup yg sebenarnya. Dengan kemampuan utk berbicara bahasa Indonesia yg cukup terbatas, Florian tetap tekad utk mewawancarai penduduk2 dan pekerja2 LSM setempat. I am writing to you as I would like to share these projects with you:

My 1. My most recent documentary “Cari Hutan – In the Search of Forest – Ich suche Wald” - an amusing, yet very interesting film about deforestation in Indonesia. A roadmovie throught Kalimantan looking at the main causes of deforestation, its effects on the country and most importantly what can be done to improve the situation. The film also forms the eco-political background for:

2.  Berlin Chennai Papua – Eurasian Cyclocross” – A friend and I are currently cycling from Berlin to Papua, Indonesia, in order to spread awareness about the potential loss of Indonesia’s very last untouched forests (Papua). We want to bring the international attention to this natural treasure’s being threatened before the palm oil, pulp&paper and mining industry leaves the same destruction behind as they have done on Kalimantan and Sumatra. On 31 Dec 2010 the Indonesian government has issued another 1.8 million hectares of land to palm oil and pulp wood plantations. This is an alarming sign that the destruction is now diversifying to Papua. Let’s let the world know about this crime before it is too late!
