The U.S. Coast Guard Captain of the Port has established a Safety Zone on the East River and Buttermilk Channel due to pollution response activities. This Safety Zone will be enforced until further notice. The Safety Zone includes all waters on the Brooklyn Side of the East River south of a line drawn from Dupont Street Brooklyn and East 25th Street Manhattan and all waters on the Brooklyn side of Buttermilk Channel, north of the Buttermilk Channel Entrance Lighted Gong Buoy 1.  Recreational and Human Powered Vessels may not enter, remain in, or transit through the Safety Zone during the enforcement period unless authorized by the Coast Guard Captain of the Port or designated Coast Guard personnel.  Mariners are requested to exercise caution while in the area.  We will relay contact information for inquiries when we receive.
