Subject: Jet Ski Invasion Notice
As discussed the other day, we will be putting a notice in the local notice to mariners, and will also do a broadcast notice to mariners that day... for the sake of wide dissemination, please use your judgment to get the awareness out about this event, for HOPS sub-committee etc. Any questions or concerns let me know. Here is the language for the notice:
"Mariners are advised that a large scale jet ski parade is scheduled to occur on June 9, 2018, between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m (rain date June 10, 2018). This parade may include a large number of jet skis and other support vessels. Participating vessels will
launch from various locations around the New York Harbor and Hudson River, then gather in the vicinity of the Pepsi Cola Sign on the East River, Long Island City, NY. Participating vessels intend to depart from the East River at approximately 11:00 a.m. and
proceed around Manhattan in vicinity of Battery Park, continuing north on the Hudson River and ending in the vicinity of the Harlem River, Spuyten Duyvil, NY. An increased presence of law enforcement officials will be monitoring activities on the affected
waterways. Mariners are encouraged to maintain awareness and report any unsafe conditions to local law enforcement or the Coast Guard on marine band radio channel 16 VHF-FM. Chart 12327, 12341, 12343. LNM 23/18"
